About Me

This is my 13th year at CHS. I teach biology, environmental science, and AP environmental science (APES). I have my BS in biology with a concentration in organismal and population studies, and my MA in teaching. I am a world traveler and love to set up trips for students, allowing them to learn about different cultures and the biodiversity/ecology of an area. I have taken students to Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Belize and Baja, Mexico. During those trips, my students and I have snorkeled with sea turtles and sharks, swam with whale sharks, tracked jaguars, kayaked, hiked, ziplined, cave tubed and rafted. Ask me about where we are headed to next and how you can come along!

My husband Joe and I are co-founders of Georgia's Place Bird Sanctuary in Illinois. We rescue and provide shelter and safety for farm birds that have been dumped, abused or neglected, while promoting compassionate living and treatment of farm birds through education and advocacy. I'm an animal advocate and have experience working in a vet clinic, zoo and as a wildlife rehabilitator.

I am an environmental activist. I am committed to making our Earth a beautiful place, with resources to last for future generations. With that in mind, there are many things we need to do to ensure that this is the case. Interested? Take environmental science or APES to find out how to make a difference!
